North to South Morocco

Tangier - Chefchaouen - Meknes - Fes - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi

Ouarzazate -  Dades Gorge - Essaouira - Marrakech

Casablanca - Rabat - Tangier

 

Day 1    Tangier - Chefchaouen
Arrive at the port of Tangier, transfer to Chefchaouen and, after a tour of the city, Chefchaouen is a small town in the Rif Mountains, is painted in hues of blue. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

 

Day 2    Chefchaouen - Meknes - Fes
Departure from Chefchaouen to Volubilis, the best preserved Roman site in Morocco and the birthplace of Moulay Idriss, the creator of the first Arab dynasty. After you continue to Meknes one of Morocco's most striking imperial cities. The Sultan Moulay Ismail, made it his capital. You will visit attics stables of Moulay Ismail, place El Hdim, Bab Mansour, the most famous door of all North Africa, and the medersa Bou Inania. After lunch you will continue to Fes. 

 

Day 3    Fes
You will have a guided tour to discover the the medina and the famous Souks of Fes - its narrow cobbled streets are filled with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets..  You will visit  the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Fes.  The tour will include a visit to the tannery and the ceramics cooperative to see the traditional Moroccan crafts.

 

Day 4    Fes - Ilfrane - Azrou - Midelt - Merzouga

After breakfast we will depart for Merzouga through the Middle Atlas region. We will drive through Ifrane, the ‘Switzerland’ of Morocco and the cedar forests of Azrou where we can stop to hand feed the monkeys. We will continue to Midelt  where we will have lunch.  We will then follow the Ziz River through the valley and stop to see the Ziz Gorges on our way to Merzouga. 

 

Day 5     Merzouga - Khamlia - Rissani – Erg Chebbi

Today we will explore the desert region and the marvel that is the Erg Chebbi desert dunes. We will will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the the nomad's way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the of the desert.  We will visit the  ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani.  In the afternoon we will ride the camels to see the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert camp. We will have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, listen to traditional berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing Sahara desert.

 

Day 6    Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges
We will wake up early to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower.  We will cross the palm lined valleys of Tourog and Tinjdad to arrive to Todra Gorge.  We will take a walk in the Todra Gorges and have lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to our accommodation in the Dades Gorge.

 

Day 7    Dades Gorge - El Kelaa Magona - Skoura -  Ouarzazate

After breakfast we will take a walk in the gorge and then take the off road track to see the nomad caves.  We will continue via El Kelaa Magona, Valley of the Roses and the Skoura oasis to arrive early evening in Ouarzazate. 

 

Day 8    Ouarzazate - Telouet - Marrakech

After breakfast we will depart to Ait Benhaddou and visit the World Heritage Site.  We will continue with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.

 

Day 9     Marrakech 

You will have a guided tour to discover the multiple facets of Marrakech with a stroll in the labyrinth of the narrow streets of the Medina amongst its famous Souks and a visit to the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Marrakech.

 

Day 10     Marrakesh - Essaouira
Departure to Essaouira to visit the city named Mogador; Mogador is a World Heritage site built in the 16th century. The ramparts of Essaouira and walls offer stunning city views from the Atlantic Ocean. You will visit also the typical port with living examples of Moorish and Portuguese art. 

 

Day 11    Essaouira - Casablanca - Rabat
We leave Essaouira to Rabat via Casablanca along the Atlantic coast. You will have a visit in Casablanca to discover the economic capital of the kingdom and its biggest city. The tour will include an outside visit to the splendid Hassan II mosque, the Habous charter. After lunch you will continue to Rabat where you can you will visit the old Medina, Oudaiyas the Chella Necropolis where the Roman ruins.

 

Day 12     Rabat - Tangier
We will make transfer to Tangier at your convenience depending on your departure.
