Desert Experience

Ouarzazatte > Erg Chebbi > Zagora > Ouarzazatte

5 days/4 nights


Day 1: Ouarzazate

Welcome, assistance and transfer to hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, you can choose to relax in your hotel, bargain for handicrafts in the souk, visit the cafes and restaurants at your leisure or take a sightseeing tour of Ouarzazate.


Day 2: Ouarzazate > Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, we will follow the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, through the Valley of Roses and towards the Dades Gorge. We will pass many magnificent landscape, stunning architectural sites, visit the local co op that produces rose essence and natural skincare products. follow an off-road track to see the mountains of M’Gouna and meet the nomads of the mountain in Boutaghrar before reaching Dade Gorge, From here we go to the town of Erfoud, renowned date capital of Morocco . From Erfoud the desert track begins and we arrive at the base of the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will stay the night in a desert hotel in Erg Chebbi.(BD)


Day 3: Erg Chebbi

After breakfast we will make a large turn of the dunes in the four wheel drive while passing through the Oasis of Merzouga, the village of Khamlia, the mines of Mifiss, the oasis of Tissadminet, and meet some of the Berber nomads of the desert. We will return to the hotel around 3pm, to prepare for departure on the camel into the desert to see the sunset on top of the dunes. We will spend the night in a bivouac, a traditional nomad tent in a remote oasis located two hours from hotel. After a traditional tagine dinner and delicious mint tea, we will spend the night watching the stars and the rising moon. (BD)


Day 4: Erg Chebbi > Zagora

At sunrise the we will return to the auberge where we will have time to have breakfast and shower before departing for a day of exciting off-road adventure. We will follow the route of one of the stages of the ‘Paris to Dakar’ race to Taouz, near the Algerian border. We will visit ancient engravings that have been in the middle of the desert for hundreds of years. We cross by Ouzina, a small Berber village, surrounded by the Saharan dunes. From here we travel to will, Ramlia, another small village, and through the valley of Draa to Zagora where we will stay overnight. (BD)


Day 5 - Zagora > Agdez > Ouarzazate

From Zagora, we follow the off-road track through the valley of Draa, rich with splendid desert landscapes and fortified villages, discovering Kasbah Tamnougalt, the typical village d´Agdz, before returning to Ouarzazatte. (B)
